Aprilaire air cleaners must be serviced every 6 months if you have heating and air conditioning and every 12 months if you have heating only to maintain peak performance.

1. Turn off power to your furnace.

2. Remove the air cleaner door.

3. Remove and dissassemble the white PVC box inside the metal cabinet. If you have upgraded your Aprilaire air cleaner you MAY not have a white plastic box inside it.

4. Remove and dispose of the old paper type filter media. It may not look very dirty but it is. Most dirt goes deep into the pleats where it is hard to see, additionaly small particles plug the pores of the filter and typicaly change the color from pure white (on all models but the 5000) to grey or tan. The model 5000 filter is a tan color when new.

5. Reinstall the white PVC box in the metal cabinet and put the door back on.

6. Turn the power to the furnace back on.

7. Turn the air cleaner back on (model 5000 only).
