The Aprilaire 550 maintenance kit worked very well on my 16-year old humidifier. I was very pleased with how easy it was to install and amazed at how it rejuvenated my old humidifier. I also bought some other parts, including some extra water panels and a replacement drain plug. My 16-year old humidifier is like new.

We bought an older house which has an Aprilaire central humidifier. We didn't dare use it until we bought the parts in the Maintenance Kit, as the old parts looked very much used. The new kit was very easy to install, we were able to go on-line and print the Owner's Manual to this old model, and we are happy to say, the Aprilaire just runs LIKE NEW now. The maintenance kit arrived as anticipated and the installation went flawlessly. HOWEVER, there's a leak somewhere and I am still working on it. I re-watched the installation video on the website and it indicated there is a right way and a wrong way to install the Evaporator Panel, but there's no color mark on the one I received. The leak seems to be around the Drain Spud, so that's where I am going next. It's probably a good idea to flush the drain hose (I replaced ours as I am sure it is almost as old as the house!) and that might stop the leak.

After 7 years it was time to change out all these items and the kit made it very simple, however due to the older style water solenoid, the water filter must be reversed and installed in the gray water line backwards.

The parts were delivered within 5 days and matched exactly with my 16 year old humidifier. Installation was fairly easy, made more difficult by an awkward placing of the humidifier, and now the unit is back to working like normal.

One really needs the whole set. Failure to replace everything may cause mold to become an issue. Don't try to save a few dollars only to spend the savings in sick bay or worse! Do the whole thing.
