After ten years, the original solenoid valve ceased to operate properly. Upon consulting Aprilaire Parts/Service department by phone, the courteous and knowledgeable staff member, Jay, suggested replacement part, as the older model is not available anymore. Unfortunately, this replacement part required a new anchoring to the humidifier case, which proved to be impossible to do in the restricted space of our laundry closet without removing our washer and dryer units and the humidifier itself. As far as the solenoid valve replacement is concerned, I have found the provided installation manual with a predefined template for the new anchoring holes very useful. The new part restored the original functionality of our humidifier to our satisfaction.
